FDM material
PVB (Alcohol-Smoothable Filament) 3D Printing
Prints like PLA, but its surface dissolves slightly in isopropyl alcohol vapour, which melts away layer lines and leaves a glossy, near-injection-molded finish. Without smoothing it looks and behaves much like PLA with a slightly lower heat limit.

PVB (Smoothable): common questions
What is PVB (Smoothable) good for?
PVB (Smoothable) is a common choice for glossy display models, clear-ish lenses & covers, consumer product mockups, figurines. Prints like PLA, but its surface dissolves slightly in isopropyl alcohol vapour, which melts away layer lines and leaves a glossy, near-injection-molded finish. Without smoothing it looks and behaves much like PLA with a slightly lower heat limit.
How strong and heat-resistant is PVB (Smoothable)?
Printed PVB (Smoothable) parts have a typical tensile strength of 35–45 MPa and heat resistance of ~60 °C. These are typical values for printed parts in the XY direction; strength between layers is lower, so orientation matters for loaded parts.
How big a part can you print in PVB (Smoothable), and how fast?
Up to 350 × 320 × 325 mm in one piece; larger parts are printed in sections and joined, after a review. Production takes 2-5 business days, and rush service is available.
