ABS-FR (Fire-Resistant ABS) 3D Printing
Flame-retardant ABS for electrical enclosures, power supply housings and control panel parts. We stock COEX CX16, made in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The filament’s base resin is classified UL 94 V-0 at 1.5 mm and HB at 1.0 mm under UL file E67171; that classification was established by the resin manufacturer on its own test specimens. A printed part is not UL-certified, and 1.5 mm is the thickness at which the manufacturer tested rather than a guarantee that a 1.5 mm printed wall performs to V-0. Certifying a finished part requires testing that part in its final geometry. We supply the datasheet, safety data sheet and UL yellow card with every order.

ABS-FR: common questions
What is ABS-FR good for?
ABS-FR is a common choice for electrical enclosures, power supply housings, control panel components, battery compartments. How strong and heat-resistant is ABS-FR?
Printed ABS-FR parts have a typical tensile strength of 40.2 MPa and heat resistance of ~85 °C @ 0.45 MPa. These are typical values for printed parts in the XY direction; strength between layers is lower, so orientation matters for loaded parts.
How big a part can you print in ABS-FR, and how fast?
Up to 350 × 320 × 325 mm in one piece; larger parts are printed in sections and joined, after a review. Production takes 2-5 business days, and rush service is available.
