Drawing requirements

You do not need a complete engineering drawing to start. Clear views and dimensions make the reconstruction more accurate; whatever is missing becomes a specific question, and no measurement is ever guessed from the size of a picture.

What makes it more accurate

  • Dimensions and units where available — written callouts are read as stated.
  • Multiple views or sections when they reveal hidden geometry.
  • Hole sizes, wall thicknesses and the other features that matter to the part.
  • Additional views when we ask for clarification.

Accepted files: PNG, JPG, WebP or PDF, up to 12 MB.

How clarification works

  • Every dimension we read is shown to you with where it came from, before anything is built.
  • A dimension the drawing does not state is left blank and asked for by name. There are no hidden defaults.
  • You correct the interpretation; the model is then generated from the values you confirmed and checked against them.
  • Your answers stay with the project.

What the automatic reconstruction covers today

Right now the automatic path builds a single flat rectangular plate of constant thickness, optionally with four through-holes of one diameter on a rectangular pattern, and optionally with the four outer vertical corners filleted to one radius. Reconstruction of other drawings is being added; until then, a drawing with a feature beyond that is kept, and the project tells you which feature it is — it is never approximated with a different shape.

Builds automatically
  • one rectangular plate — overall X, Y and Z
  • zero or four through-holes, all the same diameter, on an X/Y spacing pair centred on the plate
  • one fillet radius applied to all four outer vertical corners
Needs modeling capability we don't have yet
  • bends, flanges, or anything not flat
  • pockets, counterbores, countersinks, slots or threads
  • holes of differing diameters, counts other than four, or non-rectangular patterns
  • ribs, bosses, shells or hollow bodies
  • cylinders, cones, spheres, gears, splines or organic shapes
  • assemblies, or more than one body
  • variable thickness, tapers or draft
